Privasoft’s ‘Amazing Christmas Race’ Raises More than 600 Pounds of Food for Ottawa Food Bank

Privasoft, an Ottawa software company and leading provider of freedom of information process automation software announced today that the Ottawa Food Bank has reported their holiday donation to amount to more than 600 pounds of non-perishable groceries. During the company’s recent Holiday party, held on December 4, 2009, employees took part in Privasoft’s “Amazing Christmas Race”. This team building exercise not only brought employees closer together, but also gave them a way to help others in a time when many Holiday parties involve thousands of dollars in entertainment.

Privasoft employees scoured the city on a scavenger hunt that led them through the task of purchasing food from the Food Bank’s list of “Most Needed Items” to a finish line which brought them by foot to personally deliver their donations to the Michael Street Food Bank headquarters.

The Ottawa Food Bank operates under the motto “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world”, a concept that was successfully transferred to Privasoft’s employees as illustrated in employee Peter Henry’s independent blog post, where he exclaimed that “This things NOT JUST a scavenger hunt for fun now, this is turning into something much, much, MUCH BIGGER than us, our team, or our company!”

The Privasoft team delivered over 600 pounds to the Ottawa Food Bank that night, ensuring that a few more Ottawans in need would have food for the holidays. Nicole Gibson, the Director of Marketing at Privasoft, stated that “We have been donating to the Ottawa Food Bank every Christmas for 5 years…this was the first Amazing Race, but won’t be the last!”
