David Lloyd Leisure Injects Nearly £2M Into Finchley Club Refurbishment

(PRWEB UK) 1 September 2011

David Lloyd Leisure, the health, sports and leisure group, has announced it is pumping £1.85 million into its Finchley facility over the next six months to refurbish much of the club and install a purpose built facility for kids: DL Kids.

DL Kids, a purpose built facility offering a wide range of fun, sporting and educational programmes developed by the group, will open at David Lloyd Finchley, in North London, in December 2011 at a cost of over £800,000. It will offer a wide range of term-time and holiday programmes that are aimed at fun, socialisation, learning and activity.

In addition, David Lloyd Finchley will see just over £1m spent on upgrading its clubroom cafe – to be rebranded DL Cafebar – as well as its changing room areas and nursery.

Tracy Gale, general manager for David Lloyd Finchley said: “We are very excited about the improvements that will be made to the clubroom area and changing areas, as well as the opening of our new DL Kids facility. The demand for DL Kids programmes and facilities has grown significantly since we first introduced it and we know the purpose built facility will allow us to offer more programmes in a better space that works practically for the family as a whole.”

The group has seen a three per cent net growth in junior members since the beginning of 2011, with over 266,000 child visits per month, and an average of 3.2m per year. DL Kids Finchley will be the third purpose built DL Kids facility, the first having opened at David Lloyd Raynes Park in January 2010 as a pilot, and, following its success, DL Kids Leeds was opened in April this year. The facilities feature a mini sports hall, multi-purpose studios, interactive classrooms, DL Kids café and child-oriented bathrooms, and offer the DL Kids programmes which include sports, arts and crafts, hundreds of types of games, birthday parties and more. The programmes, run throughout the school year, are designed to complement the national curriculum, in addition to the DL Kids Holiday Active programme that runs during the school holidays and is open to non members as well.

Work has already commenced on refurbishing the DL Cafebar and changing room areas, and is due to be complete by November.
