David Lloyd Leisure Achieves FIA Code of Practice Compliance

(PRWEB UK) 17 August 2011

Health, sport and leisure group David Lloyd Leisure has become one of the latest organisations in the leisure industry to become compliant with the Fitness Industry Association’s (FIA) quality assurance scheme, the Code of Practice.

The FIA Code of Practice, officially introduced to the industry in 2007, is a set of performance standards covering health and safety, staff training and customer care.

Facilities who comply with the code, have to demonstrate a commitment to a high level of standards in health and safety for staff and members, have all staff trained to the standards recognised by the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs), ensure members are given adequate inductions and that contracts are fair and in accordance with the office of Fair Trading guidance.

Sales and operations director for David Lloyd Leisure Steven Matthews said: ‘This recognition compliments David Lloyd Leisure’s externally audited programme and confirms that both its teams and members are provided with a safe environment in which to work, exercise and engage in leisure activities. What’s more, it provides current and potential members with the peace of mind that we operate to the highest standards of both facilities and expertise.’

David Stalker, CEO of the FIA said: ‘We are delighted to award David Lloyd Leisure compliance with our Code of Practice, which demonstrates they are working to strict performance and safety guidelines for the benefit of their members and staff.’
